CBT Practitioners in Higher Education Special Interest Group

Aim

The aim of the SIG is to support BABCP members working in Higher Education. Whilst we envisage the majority of members will be CBT Therapists working in Student Support services we also welcome BABCP members who might be Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners working in this field, Supervisors of Practitioners working in HE and Practitioners working in HE in other capacities such as teaching.

Working clinically with a Student population presents a unique challenge and opportunity for Therapists with work often focusing on transitions, loss and anxiety in a very fragile and developing time for many Students. Therapists often find they need to work in a more flexible way whilst often also being challenged by the time boundaries due to capacity issues.

The aims of this SIG therefore are to:
  • Improve communication between BABCP Practitioners working in Higher Education
  • Improve the quality of research relating to CBT in Higher Education
  • Increase access to Higher Education focused CPD for BABCP Practitioners
  • Share good practise for BABCP Practitioners working in Higher Education
