One of BABCP’s aims is to uphold the integrity of CBT, and a way to do this is through supporting CBT-related research.
BABCP members can now apply for a grant of up to £40,000, in order to fund a research project over a maximum of two years.
This grant can be used for research costs (e.g., materials, license fees for software, vouchers to incentivise participation in interviews, etc.) and/or staffing costs (for example to backfill a clinical post or funding for a research assistant).
All proposed costs must be itemised and justified in the application. As part of the selection process, the Research Fund committee will consider the quality of the research (e.g., design, methodological rigour, feasibility, track record of the applicant/team), the potential future impact of the research, and whether the proposal offers good value for money.
The Research Fund Committee will prioritise research into low intensity interventions, although it will consider other research opportunities.
Applicants should provide a research proposal (maximum four pages A4) structured in the following way:
Applications should be emailed to babcp@babcp.com by no later than 9am on 1 March 2025.
The CV of the applicant and any academic mentor or PhD supervisor should be included.
All applications will be sent for peer review and then discussed by the Research Fund Committee, which will choose the award(s). All decisions are final.
