Perinatal Special Interest Group

Welcome

We are delighted to announce the launch of the BABCP Perinatal Special Interest Group, co-chaired by Dr Fiona Challacombe and Dr Catherine Green. The SIG is committed to supporting excellence in the delivery and development of cognitive behavioural therapy for women, men and birthing people during the perinatal period.

Given the wide recognition of perinatal mental health as an area of significance over the last few years, the Perinatal SIG has an important role to play in supporting practitioners to deliver evidence based treatments in a range of settings.

We look forward to connecting practitioners across settings to support the use of cognitive behavioural approaches, share evidence and highlight gaps in knowledge and practice that can be met with CPD events and research.

Aims

  • To support CBT practice for practitioners working with women and men in the perinatal period
  • To provide a network of practitioners to share resources, research, service and policy developments relevant to this group
  • To inform development and maintenance of standards of CBT practice in all settings where perinatal women and men receive treatment
  • Provide CPD events for perinatal CBT practitioners
  • Provide a forum to discuss gaps in research evidence and develop research priorities in this field
