The creation of the LGBTQ+ SIG allows a focus to consider the experiences, discrimination and assumptions members of the LGBTQ+ community, whether they be patients or clinicians, may face. Society is very much cisnormative and heteronormative, with many often struggling to see outside of binaries. This SIG will allow members to consider and develop their therapeutic skills ensuring that those from the LGBTQ+ community have access to non-judgmental, affirmative therapy.
We hosted three 'In conversation with' sessions during LGBT+ History Month. Two of these were recorded and are now available to view until September 2024. Closed captions are available on both videos.
Thank you to Hel Spandler and Dr Brendan Dunlop for their time with us. Brendan is author of The Queer Mental Health Workbook, and you can obtain a 20% discount using code 'QUEERMH' from the publishers here.
