Supervisor credentials for Low Intensity CBT
EMHP supervisors (Case Management and Clinical Skills) should be competent in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Interventions and whole-school/college mental health approaches within educational settings. They must be familiar with EMHP core interventions, outcome measures, and caseload management, ensuring high fidelity to the supervisee’s role and maintaining safety and efficiency in clinical practice.
Supervisors must have experience in delivering and supervising mental health approaches in education settings, and be actively practicing CBT-informed approaches. They should have completed or be undertaking the CWP/EMHP Supervisor (PG Certificate or CPD) or Senior Wellbeing Practitioner G/PG Diploma training. If not, they must have at least two years of experience supervising EMHPs.
Supervisors should also have a minimum of two years’ experience in Child and Young Person’s Mental Health, including clinical, therapeutic, or consultative practice with CYP.
Supervision requirements
EMHPs are required to receive:
- A minimum of one hour of Case Management Supervision every fortnight.
- A minimum of one hour of Clinical Skills Supervision every fortnight for the first six months post-qualification, and one hour per month thereafter.
Clinical Skills Supervision can be provided either individually or in a group.
If in a group, it should include no more than four supervisees, with each receiving at least 30 minutes of supervision.
Who can complete your Supervisors Report?
As part of your EMHP Registration application, you’ll provide us with your Clinical Skills Supervisors name and email address, and they will be asked to complete your Supervisor’s Report.
If your case manager provides clinical skills as part of your ongoing case management supervision, they may complete the report.
If your current Clinical Skills Supervisor has been supervising you for less than six months, you must also provide a report from your previous Clinical Skills Supervisor or your current Case Management Supervisor.
Supervisors should send the completed report directly to wellbeing.reports@babcp.com within one month of your application. If we do not receive your completed application and payment within one month of receiving the report, both will be deleted.
Evidence of good practice will be assessed based on the submitted EMHP Supervisor’s Report, including –
- an understanding and appropriate practice of the development, maintenance and ending of therapeutic relationship
- your general competency, skills and attitudes to practice EMHP and CBT principles
- your adherence to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics
Important deadlines
Supervisors must send reports directly to wellbeing.reports@babcp.com within one month of your application.
If we do not receive the Supervisor’s Report within one month of your application, the application will be deleted.

- How you develop, maintain, and end therapeutic relationships
- Your competency, skills, and professional attitude in EMHP and CBT practice
- Your adherence to the Standards of Conduct, Performance, and Ethics

Concerns regarding your supervisee’s practice
If you are asked to complete a Supervisor Report but have concerns about your supervisee’s practice, you can choose not to complete it. However, if you do, you can outline these concerns along with their personal development plan.
Please note: Supervisors cannot report concerns anonymously. We may need to discuss this with the applicant directly.
If you raise concerns or inform us of actions that may breach our Standards of Conduct, Performance, and Ethics, this may be treated as a formal complaint. While you will not be considered the complainant, you will be treated as a witness, and we may contact you for further details.
