Supervisor credentials for Low Intensity CBT
Supervisors play a key role in ensuring high-quality, safe, and effective Low Intensity CBT-informed interventions. They must be competent in the delivery of core CWP interventions and outcome measures, overseeing caseloads, and maintaining high fidelity to the supervisee’s role while ensuring efficiency and safety in clinical practice.
To qualify, supervisors must be actively practicing and using CBT-informed approaches. They should have completed or are currently undertaking a CWP/EMHP Supervisor PG Certificate (or CPD), or Senior Wellbeing Practitioner PG Cert/Diploma from a nationally commissioned training provider. If they have not completed or are not enrolled in this training, they must have at least two years’ experience supervising CWPs.
Supervisors must have at least two years of experience as a Child and Young Person’s Mental Health professional, including clinical, therapeutic, or consultative work in a CYP setting.
Supervision requirements
CWPs should continue to receive:
- A minimum of one hour per fortnight of Case Management Supervision.
- A minimum of one hour per fortnight Clinical Skills Supervision (first six months post qualification experience) and one hour per month Clinical Skills Supervision (after six months post qualification experience) should be received.
Clinical Skills Supervision can be delivered in group or individual format. If delivered in group format, this should include a maximum of four supervisees for a minimum of 30 minutes per supervisee.
Who can complete your report?
As part of your CWP Registration application, you’ll provide us with your Clinical Skills Supervisors name and email address and they will be asked to complete your Supervisor’s Report.
If your case manager also provides clinical skills supervision, they can complete the report.
If you have been with your supervisor for less than six months, you will also need a report from one of the following:
- Your previous Clinical Skills Supervisor
- Your current Case Management Supervisor
- Your current Service Clinical Lead
Important deadlines
Supervisors must send reports directly to wellbeing.reports@babcp.com within one month of your application.
If we do not receive the Supervisor’s Report within one month of your application, the application will be deleted.

Your report will help us evaluate your good practice based on:
- How you develop, maintain, and end therapeutic relationships
- Your competency, skills, and professional attitude in CWP and CBT practice
- Your adherence to the Standards of Conduct, Performance, and Ethics

Concerns regarding your supervisee’s practice
If you are asked to complete a Supervisor Report but have concerns about your supervisee’s practice, you can choose not to complete it. However, if you do, you can outline these concerns along with their personal development plan.
Please note: Supervisors cannot report concerns anonymously. We may need to discuss this with the applicant directly.
If you raise concerns or inform us of actions that may breach our Standards of Conduct, Performance, and Ethics, this may be treated as a formal complaint. While you will not be considered the complainant, you will be treated as a witness, and we may contact you for further details.
