Our Return to Practice policy applies in two instances:
- If you have previously held any Cognitive Psychotherapy Accreditation with us and you want to reinstate your accreditation
- If you graduated from a Level 2 BABCP Accredited CBT training course or BABCP Accredited EBPT training programme over five years ago and you are applying for accreditation for the first time. Please click here for details.
Reinstating your accreditation
If your BABCP accreditation has lapsed and you want to return to the CBT Register, you must complete a Return to Practice Application form, even if you have still been practicing. If you have been out of CBT practice or your accreditation has been lapsed for over two years, you must submit additional documents. Additionally if you are reinstating following a Failed Audit (including failure to submit an audit), conditions will be placed irrespective of how long your Accreditation has been lapsed. Please check our Fees page for the cost of a Return to Practice application.
It is essential you read the Return to Practice Policy for CBT Accreditation for full guidance and requirements. Here is a summary –
0-2 years since your Accreditation lapsed or since you were in CBT clinical practice
- Apply for Return to Practice by completing the application form. No further evidence or documents are required
More than 2 years since your Accreditation lapsed or since you were out of CBT clinical practice
- Apply for Return to Practice by completing the application form below
- Complete the Return to Practice Supplement below
- A Return to Practice Reference must be submitted by your referee directly to accreditation.reports@babcp.com
If your Accreditation lapsed due to a complaint being upheld against you, this policy does not apply. In this circumstance, please contact us at accreditation@babcp.com.
Return to Practice Documents
It is essential that you read the full Return to Practice Policy for CBT Accreditation before completing these documents.
Submitting your Return to Practice application for Reinstatement
Please submit your application – along with your supplement if required – to accreditation.admin@babcp.com, ensuring the subject line contains “Return to practice”.
After receiving your submission, we will issue your invoice and notify you of this. If we do not receive payment within 30 days of this notification, your application will be deleted, and you will need to reapply.
Once we have received your payment, we will process your application. Click here for fee details.
You will be awarded Accreditation status once we have assessed that you meet the Return to Practice standards.
First Accreditation Audit
12 months after joining or re-joining the CBT Register, all accredited members must complete a First Accreditation Audit.
