Completion of Level 2 BABCP Accredited course

Graduates of BABCP Level 2 accredited courses automatically meet our Minimum Training Standards and can apply for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist accreditation. You can apply as soon as you have successfully passed your course, even if you’re not currently practicing CBT.

Please submit your form by email to level2.applications@babcp.com.  We will notify you once payment request for your application has been created – please then log on to your account on our website, and visit “My Memberships” to find it.

Please check the list of Level 2 courses to ensure that your course cohort was accredited when you graduated.

Apply for Practitioner Accreditation – Level 2 route

You must:

  • be a BABCP member;
  • be a resident of the UK, its territories or Ireland; 
  • have a relevant core professional training or KSA equivalent;
  • have been accountable for your own professional practice to a senior member of your own, or another of the relevant core professions for at least one year since receiving your professional qualification or KSA equivalent;
  • have successfully completed a BABCP Level 2 Accredited Post-Graduate CBT programme;
  • have ongoing CBT Clinical Supervision, including regular live assessment of practice;
  • sign all the Declarations; and
  • adhere to our Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.

Level 2 Criteria:

You must –

  • complete the application form
  • be a BABCP member
  • be a resident of the UK, its territories or Ireland 
  • have a relevant  core professional training  or KSA equivalent
  • have been accountable for your own professional practice to a senior member of your own, or another of the relevant core professions for at least one year since receiving your professional qualification or KSA equivalent.
  • have successfully completed a BABCP Level 2 Accredited Post-Graduate CBT programme
  • have ongoing CBT Clinical Supervision, including regular live assessment of practice
  • sign all the Declarations
  • adhere to our  Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics

If you graduated more than five years ago

While there’s no deadline to apply after graduation, applications made more than five years after completing your course will require additional information.

You must submit a completed Return to Practice Supplement with your Level 2 application. The Return to Practice Policy includes examples and guidance for completion.

You must also arrange for a Return to Practice Professional Reference to be emailed to accreditation.reports@babcp.com.  We must receive this within one month of your application submission.

If you graduated after 2017

  • The course provides us with a list of successful graduates following each Board of Examiners’ meeting. We are only able to accept applications from graduates who have been informed by the programme team that they are included on a ‘pass list’ which has been submitted to us. The ‘pass list’ also confirms successful completion of the portfolio for KSA route graduates
  • If you aren’t on the pass list and think you should be, please contact your university

 

If you graduated before 2017 

  • Provide a scanned copy of your certificate. If you are a KSA-route applicant, you must also submit evidence that your portfolio was marked as a ‘pass’
  • Please note that we are unable to accept transcripts of completed modules or letters from Course Directors as evidence of successful graduation

Evidence of Graduation From a Level 2 Course

If you graduated after 2017 –

  • The course provides us with a list of successful graduates following each Board of Examiners’ meeting. After your CBP Accreditation award

Once you have Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Accreditation, you are accredited and you will appear on the CBT Register UK and Ireland.

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist  Accreditation is awarded for a period of 12 months. You must then complete a First Accreditation Audit submission. Your accreditation award confirmation email includes the date you must apply.

The audit requires you to provide evidence that you have continued to meet accreditation requirements. Details can be found in our Maintaining Accreditation page.
