This Special Interest Group promotes the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in forensic settings across the UK. It offers training, supports research, and encourages the sharing of ideas to help therapists apply CBT ethically and effectively.
Focus Areas
- To ensure the provision of a variety of training events aimed at developing people’s understanding of how to apply CBT ethically and safely within a forensic setting.
- To encourage an ethos of discussion, support and sharing of ideas to build confidence and promote the development of CBT within this field.
- Ensure the provision of a wide range of events covering the spectrum of theory, research, clinical techniques and best practice to support therapists working with patients in a forensic setting and developing an understanding of what works with this client group in relation to their complex needs.
- Build an evidence base using CBT with patients in a forensic setting.
