Mission/Objectives
This is a newly established ACT SIG and not a reestablishment of the previous ACT SIG that ran for many years within the BABCP. We are in the very early stages of forming our ACT SIG and of course are very excited to welcome members from previous SIG. We are equally passionate about helping therapists of all levels of experience access our special interest community and encourage participation from therapist who feel they are just starting on their ACT journey as well as people who have extensive experience with using the approach.
The ACT SIG are committed to supporting the advancement of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and dedicated to promoting psychological flexibility in individuals, by naming and engaging the broader contextual and structural forces that contribute to, and maintain them.
Our group includes but is not limited to those who are interested in basic and applied research, coaching, prevention science, public health, public policy, ACT, ACTraining, and the design of new ways to promote psychological flexibility at a societal level.
Vision
Our vision is to create a professional network which celebrates the expertise and diversity in practice. We aim to offer a space for everyone who feels a connection with ACT and values learning, sharing and developing the advancement of ACT. The SIG is dedicated to understanding and addressing individuals’ behavioural repertoires through evidence-based contextual behavioural approaches. By fostering collaboration among researchers and practitioners in the fields of ACT and contextual behavioural sciences, the ACT SIG aims to alleviate human suffering through the sharing of knowledge and experiences, strengthening communities.
