Dr Janet Feigenbaum has established an international reputation for her pioneering work in developing, researching, and utilising CBT and DBT interventions for individuals with personality disorders. Her extensive research experience has significantly advanced the field, particularly in terms of practical applications for individuals dealing with significant mental health challenges.
Throughout her career, she has been awarded numerous grants to explore the effectiveness of CBT and DBT interventions, including a notable 5-year NIHR Programme Grant for evaluating DBT Skills for employment.
In addition to her research, Dr Feigenbaum has earned widespread recognition for her role as an exceptional educator and knowledge disseminator. She regularly conducts workshops and training sessions on an international level, sharing her expertise and insights with professionals in the field. As the programme director for the personality disorders pathway on the CBT Severe Mental Health Problems Postgraduate Program at UCL, she has made substantial contributions to teaching CBT interventions. This initial success led to the expansion of the trial, culminating in the establishment of the IMPART trial – an outstanding achievement that earned one of the three Department of Health, SMI demonstration sites.
