Good Practice Guide Proposal Form
BABCP produces a number of Good Practice Guides, which we hope are a valuable resource for our members. We usually commission these guides ourselves, when we identify a gap in the literature or a need for guidance in a particular area. Occasionally, though, we do accept proposals from members where there’s a clear need.
To help us manage these proposals, and to make sure you don’t put in work on something we’re unable to take forward, we’ve put together the form below. It asks about your proposal, what stage it’s at, and what evidence or resources you’ve drawn on.
Before you submit, please note that good practice guides represent a considered, evidence based consensus, not a single person’s clinical opinion or approach. This is because we would want any resource to be a collaborative effort with expertise from several authors in the field. Proposals should reflect that.
Before you submit
- Good practice guides go through a structured development and review process. They aren’t published based on a single submission or personal opinion, however well intentioned.
- BABCP reserves the right to decline proposals that don’t meet our criteria for evidence, consensus, or relevance, or that duplicate existing guidance.
- We’re not able to take forward unsolicited clinical guidance that hasn’t been developed with appropriate input or evidence behind it. If your proposal falls into this category, we may suggest routes that are better suited to individual perspectives, such as an article for CBT Today.
- Submitting a proposal doesn’t guarantee it will be taken forward, and timelines for review can be lengthy given the process involved.
