Inclusivity & Access

BABCP is committed to making our Continuing Professional Development events accessible to all members.

We believe that everyone should have equal opportunities to learn, develop and engage in our events, regardless of disability or additional needs.

How we support accessibility

We strive to ensure that our CPD events, whether in-person, online or hybrid are as inclusive as possible. Depending on the format of the events we can offer

  • Physical accessibility – step free access, accessible restrooms, reserved seating.
  • Hearing support – learning loop, live captions, BSL interpretation (upon request)
  • Visual and learning support – large print materials, transcripts
  • Flexible participation – recorded sessions, remote access, additional breaks, quiet rooms.

Requesting adjustments

If you require any reasonable adjustments to participate in a pay to attend CPD event, please let us know at the time you book onto the event or at least three weeks prior to the date of the event.

If this is a free to attend event, where there is no booking required, we would ask you to let us know at least three weeks before in advance of the date of the event.

You can submit your request as part of the booking process or alternatively email events@babcp.com. We will do our best to accommodate all requests with you and find the most effective solution.

Feedback and continuous improvement

We welcome feedback on how we can improve the accessibility of our events, as well as the events more generally.

We look forward to supporting you on your continuing professional development journey.

Reasonable adjustments

We will make reasonable adjustments based in individual needs

  • Physical accessibility – step free access, accessible restrooms, reserved seating.
  • Hearing support – learning loop, live captions, BSL interpretation (upon request)
  • Visual and learning support – large print materials, transcripts
  • Flexible participation – recorded sessions, remote access, additional breaks, quiet rooms.

Decision making

Requests will be assessed on:

  1. Effectiveness – does the adjustment remove or reduce the barrier
  2. Feasibility – can it be implemented within a reasonable time-frame
  3. Financial impact – is the cost or resource disproportionate to the running of the event.
  4. Alternative solution – can an equally effective more practical solution be made.

Financial considerations

  • We will cover reasonable costs
  • Request that applications are made by the attendees for external funding, where appropriate
• Cost sharing options
  • Decisions on a case-by-case basis.
