Processing time
Due to the complex nature of applications these take some time to process. If we have not received all the necessary information with your submission, this may cause delays. Please be assured we will get in touch should we require any further information to complete your application.
The average wait time is 8 weeks for an application for graduates of BABCP Level 2 Accredited courses.
The average wait time is 18 weeks for an application for graduates of BABCP Level 1 Accredited courses.
The average wait time for a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Accreditation application from non-accredited courses is 40 weeks from the date you paid.
Please contact accreditation.admin@babcp.com only after these periods if you haven’t received an award confirmation or other correspondence. We advise applicants share their submission acknowledgement to evidence their application is in process if this is requested by an employer.
What happens after submission?
We know that submitting your application is a big step, and we want to make the process as clear as possible. Here’s what to expect next.
Confirming your application
Once we receive your application, we’ll send you an email to confirm it has been safely recorded in our system.
Initial Checks
Our Accreditation Administration Team will carry out a few checks to make sure:
- All fields are complete
- All required reports have been included
- The status of any Referees or Supervisors.
Assessment
Next, your application and supporting evidence will be carefully reviewed by our Accreditation team.
Successful Applications
If your application has been successful, we will email you to confirm your accreditation. Certificates are awarded for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Trainer Accreditation and you will be added to the CBT Register UK and Ireland
Unsuccessful Applications
If your application doesn’t meet the criteria, or if we don’t receive a satisfactory response to a request for further information within six weeks, we’ll need to withdraw your application from the accreditation process.
If this happens, we’ll provide you with feedback to help you strengthen any future submissions.
If you submitted a KSA with your application, and the KSA meets the required standard (even if the rest of the application doesn’t), we’ll award you a KSA Pass Verification letter. This means you won’t need to resubmit your KSA for future applications, you’ll just need to pay the Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist Accreditation fee when you reapply.
Appeals
If you do not agree with our decision, you may appeal within 28 days of the date we informed you of the outcome. If you wish to appeal, please email accreditation@babcp.com. In the first instance, the decision will be reviewed by the Accreditation Liaison Manager and/or the Chief Accreditation Officer who is the Registrar and may be referred to the Practitioner Accreditation & Registration Committee.
We will accept appeals on the following grounds –
- you believe that you have demonstrated that you have met the required standards of the application, audit submission or maintenance of Accreditation.
and
- you believe that our decision was not accurate or equitable
and/or
- you believe that we did not follow our own procedures
