Many CBT training courses are not accredited by us. You may still be eligible to apply for accreditation if you have completed a non-accredited, university validated, postgraduate diploma in CBT.
What if I took an non-accredited Course?
Follow these steps to find out if you can apply:
- Check your eligibility: Determine if you have a Core Profession, or if you need to complete a Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) portfolio.
- Review the requirements: Consult the Minimum Training Standards (MTS) and guidelines for accreditation as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist to see if you meet the criteria. You’ll need to provide evidence such as course handbooks, timetables, assignment marksheets, and trainer qualifications.
- Ensure your training aligns with the BABCP Core Curriculum: Your application should clearly show that your training covers the Core Curriculum. If needed, you can submit a document mapping your training to the curriculum’s main areas to help us assess your application.
- Top up your training if necessary: If you don’t yet meet all requirements, consider additional training.
