Section 2: Aims
The overarching aim of the Procedure is to ensure complaints are handled efficiently, fairly, transparently, proportionately, and in accordance with the principles of natural justice, in order to:
a. Protect the public by promoting safe, effective, and accountable practice in the Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies professions;
b. Maintain public confidence in the Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies professions and in BABCP/AREBT;
c. Uphold and promote professional standards, conduct, competence, and ethical practice within the Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies professions;
d. Provide a fair, equitable and non-discriminatory service for Complainants and Members.
e. Provide an open, transparent, and accessible process for handling complaints, declarations, and disciplinary matters concerning Members of BABCP/AREBT
f. Ensure integrity, accountability, and procedural fairness throughout the Procedure;
g. Promote consistency, transparency, and clear reasoning in decision-making;
h. Promote awareness of, and compliance with, the Standards.
