What is an Evidence Based Parent Trainer (EBPT Practitioner)?

Parent Trainers/EBPT Practitioners provide assessment of emotional and behavioural difficulties in children, involving parents in interventions, and make use of evidence based parent group interventions. These interventions are based on cognitive social learning theory and also draw on attachment theory, the parent-child relationship and parenting styles.

Parent trainers most often work within locally or nationally commissioned children’s services, but can also offer their services independently. If they are on our Register they have shown that they meet high standards of training and clinical work.
