The theme for this year’s LGBT+ History Month is Medicine.
Some famous LGBT+ people who were and are influential in the world of medicine can be explored here: LGBTQ+ History Month - Healthcare Figures — BPSA
We also have a series of free webinars. These lunchtime conversations are an opportunity for psychological therapists and practitioners to develop their knowledge and understanding about LGBT+ History and the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people.
As well as discussing the importance and impact of LGBT+ History Month, we'll hear from authors, researchers and clinicians about the realities, complexities, and nuances of both being LGBTQ+ and working with those who are LGBTQ+.
Monday 19 February 12-1pm: Hel Spandler (they/them) will discuss their research on lesbian and bisexual women’s experiences of conversion and aversion therapy in England, as well as its potential impact and implications on our client group.
Tuesday 20 February 12-1pm: Dr Brendon Dunlop (he/him) will discuss the importance of LGBT+ History Month and how we can best support the LGBTQ+ clients that we work with.
Wednesday 21 February 12-1pm: J Chance Czyzelska (they/them) and Ellis J Johnson (he/him) will discuss LGBT+ History Month, working with GSRD (Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversity) and intersectionality, as well as bringing their lived experiences to the conversation.
