BABCP is the lead organisation for CBT in the UK and Ireland. We have more than 11,000 members - including nurses, counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists and other health professionals as well as students and trainees. BABCP is the only organisation which accredits CBT therapists. Membership makes you part of the CBT community - whether you are a CBT user, a therapist or simply interested in mental health issues.

Membership of BABCP is open to anyone with an interest in the practice and theory of behavioural and/or cognitive psychotherapy. There are no requirements to have any particular qualifications to join the Association. Those applying for membership of the Association accept that such membership does not confer any professional status or qualification, and they agree with the aims of the Association and agree with the ‘Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics’ as published by the Association and endeavour to adhere to them.

Members in the UK and Ireland can apply to become Accredited as Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists if they meet the criteria which include their core professional qualifications, CBT training, clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

It is important before completing the membership forms that you read the BABCP Aims of the Association and the Standards of Conduct and Ethics.

Student Membership

If you are a student, you can enjoy all the benefits of BABCP membership at a reduced rate. Journal access is online rather than as a physical copy. Apply by completing the Student application form

Associate Membership

This is aimed at retired CBT practitioners and applicants from developing countries. To apply please complete the Associate application form

Reduced rate

A reduced rate is available to those not members not in receipt of income or earning below the NHS Grade 5 threshold. Further details on eligibility and evidence required are included on the Reduced Rate application form
