Feeling stuck with patients is a common problem in CBT and sometimes, whatever we try, nothing seems to work.
T.E.A.M.-CBT is an innovative evidence-based framework developed by David D Burns to help deal with client resistance effectively, transforming client resistance into improved motivation.
In the workshop you will learn about the 4 key pillars of the framework and particular focus will be on the Assessment of Resistance element. You will learn to identify patient resistance and how to skilfully work with this and reduce that feeling of being stuck.
T.E.A.M.-CBT is a highly empathetic approach which puts emphasis on honouring a wide range of beliefs and values that any client may hold.) It is based on core CBT principles with particular emphases on:
T esting- before and after every session.
E mpathy - Teachable and effective skills
A ssessment of resistance - A unqiue approach to this essential part of therapy
M ethods - A "Tools not Schools" approach allows for inclusion of many useful methods within the structure
The workshop will involve group-based discussion and role-play practice in small groups to help learn some of the skills and gain some experience of using the tools and techniques used within T.E.A.M.-CBT.
