Synopsis
The conference will feature two engaging workshops aimed at enhancing supervision techniques and improving CBT practice. Attendees can look forward to engaging in networking opportunities and joining an interactive Q&A session.
Workshop One
Ask Don’t Tell: Socratic Dialogue in CBT Supervision - Presented by Dr. Helen KennerleySocratic approaches are routinely used in our clinical practice but how do we get the most out of them in Supervision? This workshop will explore Socratic Dialogue, its purpose in CBT, and the goals we aim to achieve through its use in CBT supervision. It will cover effective Socratic questions and techniques, how to apply Socratic Dialogues for various supervisory purposes, and when it may be more appropriate to refrain from using them. The workshop will comprise a didactic presentation, including video material, and will offer opportunities for live practice of the techniques.
Learning objectives:
- To recognise how Socratic approaches can facilitate good CBT supervision- To recognise when direct enquiry and or didactic teaching is more appropriate
Workshop Two
Supportive Supervision - What's the key ingredients? - Presented by Amy Stephenson and John Storey
This conference is designed for supervisors at all stages of their careers, from beginners to experienced professionals, and also for Wellbeing Practitioners involved in supervision or those considering taking on this role, as well as Managers and Leaders who oversee supervisors within their organisations.
