SynopsisThis workshop aims to help therapists manage complex cases by exploring their own schemas. Schemas are patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviours, memories, physical sensations related to universal core emotional needs that we all humans share regardless of their background or identity. It is common for therapists to have schemas such as self-sacrifice, approval seeking and unrelenting standards, which can interfere with dealing with complex cases. These schemas can lead to difficulties in limit setting, standing up for your own needs, avoiding certain topics with clients or sacrificing your own needs for your client.
The workshop will enable you to become more familiar with your own schemas, helping you to understand some of the challenges you may face with complex clients. By exploring your schemas, you will learn to manage difficult moments in therapy, such as conflict with a client or a client threatening to drop-out. This will ultimately help you to manage the therapeutic process better, leading to improved quality of therapy when working with complex cases.
This event is aimed specifically at intermediate to advanced CBT therapists who are looking to enhance their skills and take their practice to the next level. It is not recommended for Wellbeing Practitioners.Learning objectives1. To understand your own schemas 2. To see how your own schemas can interfere with your CBT treatment 3.
