T.E.A.M. CBT is an innovative 1:1 structure for therapy created by Dr David Burns who has been working with CBT since its inception. He has gathered data from many years of practice to distinguish what is necessary for effective practice as well as what doesn't work.

Dr Burns will be attending the event to conduct a Q&A session at the end.

This workshop is designed to introduce you to the key themes and allow you to test out some of the processes for yourself.

T.E.A.M. CBT is based on core CBT principles with particular emphasis on:
T esting - Before and after every session.
E mpathy - Teachable and effective skills
A ssessment of resistance - A unique approach to this essential part of therapy
M ethods - A "Tools not Schools" approach, which allows for inclusion of many useful methods within the structure

The three presenters cover a wide range of lived experience. The session will include a range of teaching formats including didactic teaching, live skills demonstration, interactive group discussion and small break out group practice. The presentations will include live examples and there will be a chance to practice the various techniques.

This workshop is appropriate for all CBT practitioners, including Wellbeing Practitioners, in particular those wishing to develop towards high-intensity CBT.

  • Discover a method to track effectiveness of your work and how you come across to clients.

  • Learn about the overall structure that can contain your current methods of working.

  • Try out some clear and teachable empathy skills.

  • Find out about a process to handle clients who appear resistant or stuck.
