Synopsis
Cognitive Behavioural Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) is to date the only psychological therapy specifically developed to meet the challenges presented to therapists when working with the persistently, or chronically depressed patient. CBASP has been part of The Matrix (a guide to delivering evidence-based psychological therapies in Scotland) since 2015.

The workshop is suitable for CBT practitioners who have found themselves challenged by, and are looking for solutions to, the conundrum of patients with persistent or chronic depression.

The workshop aims to introduce delegates to the CBASP model, its origins and practical applications in clinical practice. It will provide insights into the main features of CBASP and show how these may be carried out when treating people presenting with persistent depression, with actors portraying true to life patient encounters. There will be opportunities for delegates to share their own experiences of this difficult to treat cohort of patients at various times throughout the workshop.

The workshop will have regular breaks, and will offer opportunities for questions and answers throughout. Delegates will be provided with written material to accompany the workshop.
