Synopsis

Staff engagement is an essential part of a well-run service. It is linked to better therapy outcomes, improved but sustainable contact rates and reduced staff burnout and sickness.

The webinar will help supervisors and service leaders to understand the importance of engagement and help adapt supervision and line management strategies. We will look at organisational practices to suit individuals and teams, to ensure staff remain motivated and genuinely engaged with their work.

The webinar will draw on a solid evidence base, emphasising the development of skills and strategies to make significant differences to the way that supervisors and other senior team member’s work. The workshop will also look at therapist burnout which in many ways is the antithesis of engagement.

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the three core components of engagement and how these can be measured and understood
  • To develop strategies in supervision and line management that will support staff to become better engaged with their work, taking into account individual differences that motivate staff
  • To look at service level changes that enhance staff’s sense of investment in the service and the clinical work they provide
  • To ensure a culture of positive management
  • To think about how we might adapt supervision to support minoritised therapists
  • To understand the nature of burnout and how this can impact on staff and service outcomes
