This is a clinical focused workshop on how to apply a CBT based intervention to clients presenting with PTSD. It will mainly focus on single event cases but there will be discussion around applying it to more complex cases including multiple traumas. The workshop will explain the development and persistence of PTSD following the Ehlers and Clark model (2000). Clinical case examples will be used to illustrate the key theoretical aspects of the model.
The workshop will also look at the stages of treatment including socialisation to the model to aid engagement, setting of targets and the key techniques required.
The target audience is clinicians with beginner to intermediate levels of experience. AGMThe event will be followed by the Branch AGM, 4pm - 5pm. All North East & Cumbria branch members are invited to attend.
Thomas Reeves has 25 years of working as a cognitive therapist he has worked in both primary care settings and secondary care settings. In the latter stages of his career he worked in Psychology services with clients with complex needs including complex trauma, personality disorders and psychotic disorders.
Recently retired from the NHS he works part-time in private practice.
