How to Approach Long COVID: Research Update and Practical Applications

Presented by Professor Trudie Chalder

About the event

This is an online, participative event on the Zoom meeting platform, organised by the London Branch. The event will not be recorded.

A certificate of attendance will be issued for 3 x hours CPD - 1.5hr skills and 1.5hr theory.

Synopsis
A sizeable proportion of people who get Covid, will develop Long Covid.  Long Covid is associated with multiple symptoms which affect every system of the body and people’s quality of life.  Given the lack of research evidence, services are currently based on expert opinion.   We have developed an approach which is based on the idea that after the initial illness has subsided physical and psychological processes contribute to ongoing symptoms, distress and disability.  By targeting these processes and regulating sleep, rest and activity, as well as reducing distress it is possible that symptoms will reduce and quality of life will improve.  This workshop will emphasise the importance of a formulation driven approach.

This event is aimed at experienced practitioners, with the objective of giving knowledge of Long Covid and the skills to address the problems patients present with in a coherent way.

Learning Outcomes

a) Knowledge of Long Covid research

b) Practitioners to be able to present a coherent individualised formulation of patients presenting problem.
