Self-Regulation CBT (SR-CBT) has been developed over several years with the involvement of patients with complex difficulties. Compared with standard CBT, SR-CBT places more emphasis on self-identity, motivation and life-goals. It also aims to improve clients’ self-regulation skills. For example:• Paying more attention to needs, desires and positive feelings
• Learning to engage in activity (not just doing more)
• Exploring new ways of thinking (not just having accurate thoughts)
• Trying to influence preferred outcomes in situations (living powerfully)
• Overcoming traumatic experiences (when applicable)
