This is an online, participative event on the Zoom meeting platform, organised by the Children, Adolescents and Families Special Interest Group (CAFSIG).  

The event will not be recorded.

A certificate of attendance will be issued for 2 x hours CPD - 1hr skills and 1hr theory.

The aim of this event is to discuss and explore how to work digitally with children and adolescents, especially when delivering CBT interventions.  Given the developments of Covid19 over the last 18 months, there has been a significant adjustment to remote and digital working. There is ongoing evidence to support the effectiveness of delivering digital CBT to children, adolescents and families if appropriate.

Aims and Objectives
1. For the practitioner to develop their CBT skills when working digitally with children and adolescents

2. To decide whether a digital intervention is the most suitable

3. How to follow the evidence when delivering a specific CBT intervention

Learning Outcomes
1. To understand how to deliver CBT interventions digitally
2. How to use the digital resources effectively when working with children and adolescents

About the presenter(s)

Sam Thompson is a mental health nurse and CBT therapist, currently working in a CAMHS service in Wiltshire. Sam studied for the post graduate diploma in CBT, specifically designed for working with children and young people. Sam's current role involves developing a digital CBT pathway for children and adolescents within the NHS and he is also a clinical supervisor for the Mental Health Support Team.

Sam has recently contributed two chapters to the 'Helping your child with worry and anxiety' book by Ann Cox, aimed at helping parents and families to support their children with difficulties related to anxiety.
