About the presenter(s)

We are delighted to yet again host a range of speakers, talking about a variety of diverse and inclusive topics, including;

  • Dr Phil Davison and Dr Alexis Economou: Finding a different voice: A comparison of CBT and PIT.

Alexis Economou and Phil Davison are consultant general adult psychiatrists and run a community liaison service in Oxford. Alexis is dual trained in medical psychotherapy and Phil has an advanced diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The have built up a reputation for the supervision of psychiatric trainees and host up to 10 trainees at any one time, who are treating patients in their service.

They will present their work with one patient that they both treated, at different times. The periods of treatment were a few years apart and used two different models of psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Interpersonal Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

They will allow plenty of time for discussion which will allow us the opportunity to compare and contrast the two models of therapy.

  • Dr Dasal Abayaratne: CBT in a time of climate uncertainty?

Dasal Abayaratne is a psychiatry and medical psychotherapy speciality trainee, currently completing CBT accreditation. He has long held an interest in social determinants of health and environmentalism. This has become incorporated in his work day to day, but also at a national level as a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrist's Sustainability Committee.

  • Dr Zoe Goff: A Trainee’s experience of providing CBT for Psychosis

  • Dr Saju Padakkara: An introduction to Radically Open DBT
