How do I become qualified in CBT?

To be able to work in most settings as a CBT therapist, you should train on a University-based CBT course.  This will usually be at least a Post-Graduate Diploma (Level 7).

This will be at least a postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, Masters’ degree or equivalent. This is Level 11 in Scotland, Level 7 in England, Northern Ireland and Wales and Level 9 in Ireland.

You will need to have a prior background in mental health to be accepted on to these trainings.

There are CBT courses available at lower academic levels but these may not allow you to meet the criteria for accreditation. Accreditation with us is a requirement for many CBT jobs .
