About the role
There are increasing numbers of people who experience depression and anxiety also experience long term health conditions, including conditions such as diabetes, cancer, cardio-vascular and respiratory diseases, and long COVID.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Practitioner Psychologist to join our team.
This role is an exciting opportunity to lead on developing and implementing IAPT long term health condition (LTHC) psychological interventions, supporting clinicians across With You’s Kent IAPT services to provide the highest quality integrated services.
The post will build on existing relationships and practice as well as cultivating new opportunities. You will have many opportunities to develop joint working initiatives for the comorbid physical-mental health population of Kent.
This role represents an exciting opportunity for candidates who enjoy liaison and partnership working with other physical and mental health services, and are interested in the clinical challenges found with the links between physical and mental health.
The postholder will work alongside all IAPT providers in Kent and Medway, and with colleagues in physical health services, to ensure that psychological treatments for people with LTC/MUS are accessible, effective and delivered in a way that allows for mental and physical healthcare needs to be addressed at the same time, including co-located clinics.
Working across a range of physical health conditions, addressing agreed areas of highest need, the post-holder will also support the development of a Long COVID pathway, working with commissioners to make sure that the needs of this group are understood and met.
The post holder will provide specialist LTC clinical supervision and training to the LTC trained High Intensity and PWP teams within Kent and will deliver IAPT-LTC treatments to people within the With You IAPT service.
What we’re looking for
Essentially you must hold a Postgraduate Doctoral level training in health, clinical or counselling psychology (BPS accredited) or equivalent qualification in relevant psychological profession, plus further specialist training, research or study, conferring advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and practice experience of clinical health psychology.
You should be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist (Health, Clinical or Counselling), with evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC and have an accreditation with British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) as a therapist.
Completed a training course in clinical supervision and demonstrable experience of having worked as a Practitioner Psychologist under the supervision of a more senior member of the profession for a minimum of 2 years.
