Psychological Therapist

Join our community team as a Psychological Therapist at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust and develop innovative approaches to providing mental health care within the community.

You will be part of the Crawley and/or East Grinstead Primary Care Network (PCN). Our multidisciplinary teams empower people with long-term health conditions to improve their quality of life and prevent hospital admission.

PCN Psychological Therapists work within a primary care setting and are part of a small team of psychological practitioners within the wider West Sussex PCNs. You will work alongside social workers and prescribers, community nurses and mental health nurses, to provide a holistic and integrated approach to care using a variety of therapy models.

Psychologically informed practice is embedded and encouraged in our service and providing reflective practice sessions, contributing to case discussions and consultations, and carrying out assessments are essential aspects of the role. We offer flexible working hours and you will receive regular individual supervision, attend meetings with other allied psychologists, and have access to CPD opportunities throughout the year.

What you will need:

  • A registered/accredited Psychology profession: Clinical/Counselling/Health Psychologist, CBT therapist or Psychotherapist with equivalent experience and additional therapy accreditation in NICE guideline evidence-based practice (e.g. BABCP)
  • Specialist training/or experience relevant to long-term physical health conditions, health psychology, trauma-informed care and reflective practice
  • Experience of working with and assessing a wide variety of client groups presenting with a full range of clinical severity across a range of care settings
  • Experience of using evidence-based models to treat a wide range of mental health presentations
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC/BABCP
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
