The Opportunity

This role is an exciting opportunity to help shape the new service with children, young people, families and educational settings and to develop your career in mental health support to children, young people and families.

The role will work alongside colleagues to develop Compass’ Wave 12 MHST’s with a focus on building partnerships with education settings and to drive highly effective and CYPF focussed mental health and wellbeing services in line with the national MHST operating framework; supervising and innovating with practitioners and colleagues in the service. We have 4 Supervising Practitioner vacancies across Derby City and Erewash and 12 in Birmingham.

The service is part of the national MHST Programme, which has been commissioned following the ‘Transforming Children and Young People’s Mental Health Care Provision: A Green Paper’ (2017). 

The Person

You will be a values-driven (integrity, valuing each individual, solution focused, consistent and reliable) individual with a passion for supporting children, young people and families mental health and wellbeing. You will also have:

  • Core professional and/or clinical qualification) (e.g. EMHP, CWP, PMHW, nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work)
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision (EMHP supervisor course) or Two years’ post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people and willingness to undertake a PG Certificate in Supervision. 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to form positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Candidates who do not currently hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision (EMHP supervisor course) will be supported by Compass to complete the course at The University of Derby, please note your application may be shared with Derby University.

Due to the nature of the role there is a need to travel to individual schools, which will require a driving license and access to a vehicle (for individuals who cannot drive due to a disability, we can consider accessibility options i.e. provided via Access to Work etc).
