Apply for CWP Registration

​Criteria

  1. Be a BABCP member and a resident of the UK, its territories or IrelandIf you are not currently a BABCP member, your registration fee will include Standard Rate BABCP membership.
  2. Graduation from a Health Education England (HEE) Quality Assured CWP Training Course (prior to January 2023) or a British Psychological Society (BPS) Accredited CWP training course (January 2023 onwards). A list of HEE approved courses is available here.
  3. You must be accountable for your professional practice to a senior member of your service.*
  4. You must agree to a sustained commitment to the theory and practice of CWP working.
  5. You must be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the therapeutic relationship and competence in the development, maintenance and ending of such relationships, via a Supervisor’s Report, which is submitted in advance of your Register application.
  6. You must adhere to the BABCP Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics
  7. As part of your clinical work, you must be providing a minimum of two hours per week of CWP Interventions. The clinical practice should include the application of CBT and social learning theory informed, 1:1 assessment and interventions for a range of presenting problems (low mood, anxiety and challenging behaviour), targeted and universal group interventions, information giving and signposting. Delivery must be via live interventions e.g. telephone, video or face to face.
  8. Your clinical practice must be primarily supporting children and young people age 5-18, and 100 % of your caseload should be with age under 26 years. Any work undertaken with adults within the system must be focused on their role as parent, carer or guardian of the child or young person who is primarily being supported.

*If you are currently out of practice, please refer to our Return to Practice information to register as a Wellbeing Practitioner. If you have recently graduated from a CWP training programme and are actively seeking employment, please ask your most recent placement clinical skills supervisor to complete your supervisor report.

How to Apply

To apply for CWP registration complete the online CWP application by clicking the link at the bottom of this page. Supervisors should send their CWP Supervisor's report directly to wellbeing.reports@babcp.com within one month of the application being made. You should request your report be sent prior to submission of your online application, and this can be up to one month before the application date. This is to prevent delays in your application processing.

If we do not receive a completed application for registration with payment within one calendar month of receiving a Supervisor's Report, the application and report will be deleted.

If you have been with your current supervisor for less than six months, you must also provide a report from your previous supervisor. For further information and the downloadable report template, please see CWP Supervisor's Reports.

Please note from November 1st 2023, we will no longer accept submissions of older supervisor report templates, and your supervisor must complete the most recent template found on the above link. Submission of older forms will result in delays to your application.

If you are not a current BABCP member - the fee to register for your first year will be £127. This includes annual BABCP Standard Rate membership. Your renewal fee will be £97 per annum (this may be subject to change).

If you are a current BABCP member - the initial registration fee is £45. Your registration renewal fee will be £15.

Renewal fees are payable on the anniversary of your Wellbeing Practitioner Registration date.

Pre-application Checklist

  • Supervisor has used the most recent report template and sent a completed report to wellbeing.reports@babcp.comYour application submission must be within one month of the report being sent.
  • Certificate of training
    • You will need to demonstrate that you have completed appropriate training by uploading a copy of an official academic transcript or certificate to your online application.
    • This document must include your name, course title, bear the training institution stamp/seal and show you have successfully completed the course (post exam board ratification).
