Salary: Grade 8, £40,156 - £45,931 per annum, pro rata. Appointments will normally be made to the first point of the grade.

RCM’s Student Services are seeking to recruit a male Counsellor to complement the existing service of one female Counsellor, providing a counselling service for students, working within the boundaries and code of ethics compatible with the British Association of Counsellors, UK Council for Psychotherapy or equivalent professional body. The postholder will provide support to vulnerable students and those who may be at risk of withdrawing from study; contribute to providing drop–in appointments and psycho-educational workshops; carry out intake assessments for new students presenting to the counselling service; and, as appropriate, make medical, psychological and psychiatric referrals to the Imperial College Health Centre and other agencies.
Applicants should have a recognised postgraduate counselling qualification and significant post-qualification experience. Ideally, the successful candidate will work within a person-centered or integrative modality, as well as having experience of working with students and empathy for the needs of student performers.
In addition to the Counselling Service, Student Services is available to all RCM students and the team offer informal advice, useful information resources, welfare advice, support for disabled students, and accommodation services. The Student Services team are happy to talk to students about any matter that is affecting their studies or personal life. They offer drop-in and appointment services, both of which are fully confidential.
This post is offered on a permanent, part time basis for 2 days / 14 hours per week, Monday and Friday, in term time only (36 weeks of the year) and is available from 29 April 2019.
