BABCP in transition

14 February 2023

BABCP is a successful membership organisation that has grown considerably since it was first incorporated 50 years ago. Today, we are widely recognised as the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the UK and Ireland.

We aim to promote, improve, and uphold standards of clinical practice, supervision and training, and support members to develop professionally and link with the wider CBT and other psychological professions. More recently we have increased our remit with a new membership category for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) and are increasingly looking to ensure we better support all our members.

We are now entering the next stage of this development. Our Board of Trustees has an ambitious vision for development that includes gaining Professional Standards Authority (PSA) Accreditation, developing our public affairs, and advocacy work to ensure the work of members is better understood, as well as ensuring the organisation is properly resourced to deliver a comprehensive range of member benefits that is informed by the views and needs of our members.
